The Cicero MS flag football A team played their fourth game of the season in a defensive showdown, which was lost 7-0, at Lincoln Prep’s A Team. In a matchup where running back Jackson Potter led the offense with a solid rushing game and where Erik Molique anchored a defense that was able to hold Lincoln to only one scoring drive, the Centurions fell short in a 8-0 loss. The offensive line of Ivy Hewett, Cam Schmidt, and Dylan Marks tried mightily to keep the stellar Lincoln pass rush from quarterback, Colin Hooppaw. They played great run blocking though as Jackson Potter broke out for a big run on one of the first plays of the game. The Centurion defense came out big with good rushing by Bronjor Byarunhanga, Ivy Hewett, and Ethan Weaver. Erik Molique commanded the defense at linebacker, catching an interception and shutting down a fast Lincoln run game. The Cicero secondary led by Jackson Potter, Luke, Drew Kircos, and William Twardeck shut down the Lincoln pass game, letting only one touchdown pass get past them.
The Cicero MS flag football B Team lost a tough battle against the Lincoln B team, coming up short 20-7. The run game for the team went well with running back Carter Bradbury getting a couple of big runs. Quarterback Jack Keller connected with Carter Bradbury on a screen play that turned into a long touchdown for Cicero’s only score. The offensive line of Matthew Thorley, Louden Ruiz, Logan Stewart-Wissing, and Dane Stevens turned it around late and played well in the last couple of drives. The defense did not play as well as hoped, allowing 20 points, but they held their poise only allowing one touchdown in the second half. The secondary, including Drew Kircos, Van Mueller, Jack Keller, and Cole Ferrell, played well, only allowing one passing touchdown the whole game. Drew Kircos picked off 2 passes on Lincoln’s extra point conversion tries.
