Cicero QB Colin Hooppaw connected with wide receiver William Twardeck on a few passes and running back Bronjor Byarunhanga rushed for a few first downs. The defense line, anchored by Ivy Hewett, Bronjor Byarunhanga and Ethan Weaver helped to contain Maryvale’s vaunted rushing attack for most of the game. Ultimately, Maryvale’s quarterback was able to find a few holes and broke the game open for Maryvale.
The Cicero MS flag football B team continued to dominate its 2018 schedule with a 28-0 victory over North Pointe Prep’s B Team. Running back Carter Bradbury had several amazing runs, including a couple of long touchdown scores. Those touchdowns were enabled by amazing blocking by Cicero’s offensive line, anchored by Matthew Thorley, Louden Ruiz, Logan Stewart-Wissing and Martin Perez-Flores. Quarterback Jack Keller also connected several times with his wide receivers, including Drew Kircos, who scored on two long touchdown passes.
On defense, Cicero applied constant pressure with its defensive line, led by Martin Perez-Flores, Micah Gadoury and Louden Ruiz. The secondary, led by Van Muller, Drew Kircos, Miles Wrubel and Cole Farrell played shutdown defense to prevent North Pointe from getting a first down the entire game.
With the win, the Cicero B team moved to 3-0 and has not allowed a point in any games.
