Cicero Preparatory Academy
The Cicero men’s flag football team proved once again that believing in one another and playing as a unit is the only way to achieve success in a team sport. In a closely matched contest, the Centurions were forced to play their best football to date. The defense struck first when corner back Mark Alway snagged his second interception of the season proving once again he is a force at that position. Needing a spark on offense they turned to non other than the most electrifying player on the field, Michael MacDonald who literally took matters into his own hands and legs. The talented and explosive running back turned a routine handoff into probably the most exciting run of the season weaving through the Lincoln defense for a 42 yards touchdown, giving his team an early lead in the game. With the score 7-6 late in the second half, quarterback Mark Alway contributed with a 30 yards scamper of his own to give his team a much needed cushion, a 14-6 lead for his defense to protect. However the defense surrendered a late touchdown, but denied Lincoln Prep of an extra point attempt which was their second of the day. With a 14-12 lead the Centurions were able to maintain possession of the ball and play clock management until the conclusion of the game. The win, which by no means was an easy task improved the Cicero Men’s flag football team’s record to an impressive 4-1.
